I imagine everyone is thrilled that a new season is nearly upon us! I know I'm more than ready to leave behind the chunky knits and monochrome hues of winter. Nothing is more refreshing than seeing what trends each new season has to offer. That creativity and innovation energizes me every year to buy pieces that will have me excited to put a new outfit together, day after day. Spring, in particular, gets the creative juices flowing with its light layering and sumptuous floral patterns. It is the perfect time to get inventive with our wardrobes! Buying a few new pieces every season revitalizes what we already have in our closets--instead of replacing each individual item. Rather than having you wade through the fashion waters yourself, I have compiled a short list--just three key looks from spring 2017’s best trends, to incorporate with what you already own. I've got you covered - literally!
The Flirty Single Shoulder Cutout
The single shoulder cutout has popped up everywhere for spring! Playful and sexy, just a peek of skin before the warmer bathingsuit months of summer. It's a great way to break away from the off the shoulder trend that was so prevalent last year. Who needs both shoulders exposed when just a tease of one will do? The key to making this style work is employing a less is more approach. It's best done in a basic tee shape, like the Free People piece above. It is the perfect look for days spent browsing the Sunday market with a good pair of deconstructed jeans, and a big tote to carry all your seasonal veggies.
Fashionably Deconstructed Jeans
Speaking of Sunday markets and deconstructed denim, the “Anika” cropped pair from Mavi Jeans is an amazing addition to anyone’s closet. It has just the right amount of fray at the hem, hits mid-rise, and is slightly faded for a vintage effect. The secret to this trend is finding a pair cropped at the right part of the ankle, with a light amount of volume at the flare. They are great for showing off your favorite pair of booties, which have likely been relegated to the back of the closet during those freezing winter days.
I absolutely love embroidery, and I love that it has popped up on a lot of major runways for the spring season! From the backs of booties to the lapels of button down shirts, this trend seems to be everywhere. The “Poppy” dress by Rahi Cali,is a wonderful example of taking a shape that is already ultra-fem and elevating it with some captivating blooms. Take it from day to night by swapping out a comfortable pair of flats with a sexy pair of open toed ankle strap heels.
This is a small sampling of all the exciting trends we will see grace the sidewalk runways in the upcoming months. Hopefully these suggestions help you to incorporate something new into your everyday personal style. Remember innovation and individuality are the keystones to every enviable wardrobe--from Kate Middleton to Kate Moss. So have fun and I’ll see you all out there strutting your stuff to that intoxicating spring beat!
